A budget and a transaction history are different things
Automatic bank feeds are useful for people who want transaction categorisation and historical spending analysis. They are not a requirement for planning recurring income and commitments.
A manual recurring budget asks a simpler question: what money normally comes in, what regular money normally goes out, and how do those commitments look in the period you use to plan?
The trade-off is intentional
Without a bank connection, you need to enter and maintain the recurring amounts yourself. In return, the budgeting tool does not need direct access to your banking transactions simply to help you plan those amounts.
Focus on the commitments that shape the week or fortnight
Start with regular income, housing, groceries, utilities, subscriptions and other recurring commitments. Add or adjust items when your real life changes rather than trying to reproduce every transaction from a statement.
BudgetShape's approach
BudgetShape is deliberately focused on recurring planning. It does not require a bank connection. You enter weekly, fortnightly and monthly amounts and can view the same budget in the frequency that makes sense to you.
